Out of the Blue

It was another rainy Saturday afternoon and we had nothing better to do. Only, we remembered that there is an obscured "high class" cafe advertised in the HDB Tai Tai (HDB太太) show that we should really visit and put in our blog.

Well, how can we not have the highly favoured shepherd pie, and so we have it here! This dessert, which we had it as appetiser, indeed lived up to its standard. The entire layer of mash potato on top is completely smooth. Too bad it's too small for the two big mouths we have.

We were appalled by the fact that the place is really small, simply out of our expectations. We actually intended to have our full lunch there, but it looks like the place is more suitable some quick bite-and-run. Nevermind, we are ordering our mains nonetheless.

Grilled Salmon for me and Beef Stew with Rice for L, plus Mocha and Coffe Ice to go along.

The beef stew looks abit disgusting in the picture, but it's actually quite tasty! The salmon on the other hand is of average standard, we suppose.

Premium Pineapple Tarts

Chinese New Year is coming around and we are helping to sell our favourite pineapple tarts right here.

The people behind this have been making pineapple tarts for many years already. These homemade tarts are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Pop one into your mouth and you can feel it melt. It retains its taste and touch even after a few days. So it's not only a good treat for your New Year visitors, it's also good as gifts to your relatives.

Each tub is SGD$18 with 32 pieces. Currently, we can only offer free delivery (Singapore) on fixed dates, for 3 tubs and above:

26 Jan 2008, Saturday, Afternoon
02 Feb 2008, Saturday, Afternoon
03 Feb 2008, Sunday, Afternoon

For orders less than 3 tubs, you can make special arrangements with us.

New year eve dinner

Lacklustre service at Shokudo is however forgivable since they only started business not long ago. They explained it was some computer system error causing orders to be mixed up.

Their concept of Japanese-Italian cuisine looked exactly like a Waruku clone. Inevitably, they are pitting themselves against a strong competitor and therefore we are going to have higher expectations the moment we step in.

Carefully scrutinising the menu, we find that the mains are simply a choice of 5 toppings (beef, prawn, fish, seafood, vege), 4 sauce and 3 noodles. You can do the permutations. Without much variety, I went for the Ebi Tempura spaghetti in Waku sauce.

Then L have this Unagi and Prawn Combo Fettucini in Waku Basil instead.
