Tampopo Japanese Famiy Dining Restaurant

Tampopo is quite a famous Japanese restaurant located at Liang Court Shopping Centre for years. We were invited together with Jake's uncles to join them for dinner. They had collected enough points or stamps that entitled them for dinner up to max of 8 people and all food are at a 50% discount price!!! There were like four of us only but we managed to order quite a lot and the bill was only like $200++!

My Love~~ Sashimi!!! We had prawns, toro, uni, scallops, salmon belly. It was ashamed that we did not order more Toro because the original price is $30 for only 3 pieces per order. We only ordered for two servings =( Their sashimi are fresh and tasty except their Uni had a funny little taste.

Black Pork Truffle Fried Rice - This is really one of my favourites and must have if going to Tampopo. The truffle taste is wonderful and compliments very well with their fried rice.

Cheese Chiffon Cake - Fluffy cake with not much cheese in it and it was quite dry. I still prefer their recommended fruits scoop cake.

Prawn Tempura~ Slurps!

We also ordered many other dishes like the Unigi Rice Set, Pork Shabu Shabu and Ramen. Do check them out...

Reunion Dinner 2008

We just had our reunion dinner with our families this weekend and now we are going to let you take a peek at some special and nice dishes we had at the chinese restaurant.

The thing on the table at every reunion must be the fish salad, and this year we thought it's special because it's the first time we have fried fish skin in it. Usually we would go dig for those crispy, bloated square "gold coins", but this time we prefer the fish skins.

Next, I'm going to reveal something cruel to all the protectors of the seas: we had shark fins soup. I personally noticed that we are getting lesser and lesser fins per serving as the years go by, all thanks to the heroes. Our soup this time has got milk in it! And it was not bad at all, but still not enough to compensate for the lack of the core ingredient.

Then we had some nicely fried prawns. I love prawns. And love this lovely pair of prawns has got salted egg yolk in its recipe, making it even more tasty.

Prawns

But just as we thought the prawns are going to top our list, here comes the Golden Rat (lotus) and some yam-peanut thing. Just look at how cute it is... it just fares greatly above average in both looks and taste.

Forbidden City

On the second day of Christmas, my girlfriend gave to me, a $135.36 meal for TWO!~~ Forbidden City by IndoChine. (This should compensate for the Emporio Armani Shades the previous day)

I thought IndoChine was a very good choice because we could avoid sore-throat-inducing food stuff. We had Scallops of the Southern Sea (Starter), Sauteed Abalone, Seafood of Supreme Harmony and 2 servings of Jasmine Rice (actually white rice) each.

Each scallop is skewered with a single stalk of lemongrass and sprinkled with chilli pineapple bits so you could get that appetising sweet and sour taste. Hold one end of the stalk between your fingers and then gently slide the scallop off the other end. Let the scallop rest on your tongue and slowly feel the aroma fill the entire cavity before you lose control, chew it into a tasty white mash, finally swallowing it in one gulp!

The Sauteed Abalone is sliced and fried with oyster sauce, baby cabbages. It's not very much of an eye candy, no special effort on the presentation but what's otherwise considered interesting too were the cute bird and deer carrot slices.

And the last dish is Seafood of the Supreme Harmony which was baked garoupa skin stuffed with minced prawn and garoupa meat of course, accompained with two prawns and stir fried watercress.

A very helpful waiter also told us there is another outlet at Waterfront (ACM) with even better ambience.

Forbidden City

After the hearty dinner, we went down the first floor to have some drinks. We ordered the Singapore Sling, Chocolate Martini and White Russian. It happened to be the ladies night so we had another free Chocolate Martini which L ordered.
