Tampopo Japanese Famiy Dining Restaurant

Tampopo is quite a famous Japanese restaurant located at Liang Court Shopping Centre for years. We were invited together with Jake's uncles to join them for dinner. They had collected enough points or stamps that entitled them for dinner up to max of 8 people and all food are at a 50% discount price!!! There were like four of us only but we managed to order quite a lot and the bill was only like $200++!

 

My Love~~ Sashimi!!! We had prawns, toro, uni, scallops, salmon belly. It was ashamed that we did not order more Toro because the original price is $30 for only 3 pieces per order. We only ordered for two servings =( Their sashimi are fresh and tasty except their Uni had a funny little taste. 



 

Black Pork Truffle Fried Rice - This is really one of my favourites and must have if going to Tampopo. The truffle taste is wonderful and compliments very well with their fried rice.

 

 

Cheese Chiffon Cake - Fluffy cake with not much cheese in it and it was quite dry. I still prefer their recommended fruits scoop cake.

Shokudo Japanese Food Bazaar

No more swiss food in Marche, here comes the japanese food in Shokudo!! Marche and Shokudo shares the similar idea of having a number of food stalls in a restaurant and charging by using card. The differences between these two eating places is the different types of cuisine and Shokudo has themed dining!

The themes that they create is really interesting. They have old japan, modern japan, anime (Sakura!!), the sumos and also dining in neon lights. Sounds very interesting isn't it? The colourful decorations and atmosphere can really lifts up my mood. Neoprint machines can also be found in the center of the restaurant! The whole place makes me feel like i'm really in Japan.
ITADAKI-MASU!

J ordered this western dish cooked in japanese style. The burger was so big and it served with my favourite sunny side up egg!!



We also ordered this clam chowder soup, and when we had our first mouth of it. We both went stun! The taste is very very different from the western style. Oh ya, the board menu was saying, "Tokyo Style Clam Chowder". The taste of the butter was quite strong and after a few more spoons of it, its quite yummy.



Next Gyoza...

This stall selling all bbq food sticks - kushiyaki. I don't quite fancy it as I've eaten a better Kushiyaki in Shenton area before. Maybe 1 day I shall bring J there..



You can also find rosti here too which is the famous potato dish in Marche. But other than that, the rest of the food is very much different.



They also have this special bamboo steam rice. I really really regretted ordering the salmon instead of the Unagi. The whole thing was very dry..



I also spotted many people queuing at this omelette stall and I told myself I must try it no matter what. And I ordered this Unagi with Omelette, it was really very tasty. Abit of salty and sweet mixing together.


There so many wide selections of Japanese food found there with at least more than 200 dishes to choose from. So many other types of food that I have not tried yet, I really can't wait to go there for my next visit!

Out of the Blue

It was another rainy Saturday afternoon and we had nothing better to do. Only, we remembered that there is an obscured "high class" cafe advertised in the HDB Tai Tai (HDB太太) show that we should really visit and put in our blog.

Well, how can we not have the highly favoured shepherd pie, and so we have it here! This dessert, which we had it as appetiser, indeed lived up to its standard. The entire layer of mash potato on top is completely smooth. Too bad it's too small for the two big mouths we have.



We were appalled by the fact that the place is really small, simply out of our expectations. We actually intended to have our full lunch there, but it looks like the place is more suitable some quick bite-and-run. Nevermind, we are ordering our mains nonetheless.



Grilled Salmon for me and Beef Stew with Rice for L, plus Mocha and Coffe Ice to go along.



The beef stew looks abit disgusting in the picture, but it's actually quite tasty! The salmon on the other hand is of average standard, we suppose.
